Back to My Mac

Just recently my Dad purchased a new iMac. To help him out, I started iChat-ing with him on Screen Share so that I could show him the ropes without actually being at his house.

Then at work the next week I discovered a very cool proponent to having a .Mac account. There is a new feature in Leopard that allows easy access to any computer that has the same .Mac account, Back to My Mac. With this new feature you are able to gain access to those computers with the account without entering a password. You can even screen share with a computer.

We (staff) have had a lot of interesting times this week getting on each others computers and messing with them while they are working. The best part about screen share with Back to My Mac, is that you do not have to ask permission in order to share the screen. So we access their screen without them knowing it and are able to do any and everything we wish. It even allows for direct use of keyboard shortcuts.

This feature was designed initially to access a computer when a file was left on a computer at home, and you happen to be at work. You then can easily grab the file. Here at the church we are going to be able to access use of a computer during a service and not have to walk to the various rooms in order to troubleshoot.  Just another reason to have a Mac.
